Eclipsys, Springhill Win 2009 Outsourcing Excellence Award for ‘Best Impact’
For a second time, Eclipsys was named among the top Outsourcing partners by the Outsourcing Center, an affiliate of the Everest Group. The 2009 ‘Best Impact’ Outsourcing Excellence Awards went to Springhill Medical Center (Mobile, AL) and Eclipsys. A month before Hurricane Katrina ravaged the Gulf Coast, Springhill Medical Center converted its emergency department over to a new integrated electronic medical record (EMR) system from Eclipsys. The change was part of a complete IT overhaul with outsourcing partner Eclipsys. The result? Springhill Medical Center’s medication errors fell 80 percent and infection rates fell by two-thirds. Emergency Department customer satisfaction soared from 11 to 92 percent. System availability went from 56 to 99.999 percent. And the new electronic medical records helped the Alabama hospital weather Hurricane Katrina.
